Just Listed - Westside Lodge is a spacious 2-story home that sits high above the Russian River on the Healdsburg "wine road", known for its miles of scenic vineyards. This 1936 cabin offers a true lodge experience with its architecture and furnishings, yet is fully equipped with the amenities and comforts you expect from a newer property.
Enter onto the landscaped front porch area, and into the dining room with large farmhouse-style table that expands to seat up to 10 diners. The very well-equipped kitchen has restored original cabinetry and lacquered wood countertops, with a large Weber propane grill right outside the kitchen door.
The heart of the house is the very spacious great room with floor-to-ceiling rock fireplace and trestle-beam ceiling. Windows wrap around this room, offering forest views from 3 sides. Enjoy 3 distinct seating areas for reading, socializing, or just taking time out to watch a movie or football game on the 50" HDTV with DVD, DVR, and expanded cable + on-demand. The room also has an ipod adaptor cord for the stereo. This room opens to a large covered porch which spans the entire width of the house, with dining and conversation areas.
All three very spacious bedrooms are located on the lower level and have cotton linens, down comforters, and heated dual-zone mattress pads. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with deep 1930's Kohler tub + shower. The two other bedrooms each have queen beds, and share a large Tahoe-inspired redwood bathroom with enormous double shower. There is another full-width riverview porch on this level, with a full-sized daybed perfect for your afternoon nap.
Below the house, you'll find a private stepped path which leads directly down to the river. Use of 2 sit-on-top kayaks, life vests, paddles, and 4 large heavy-duty inner tubes are all included with your stay during the summer months. In fall and winter, the river is a world-class destination for steelhead and coho salmon fishing. The private river access below the house is just a few hundred yards from Steelhead Beach and Hacienda Hole, two well-known spots for making a great catch.
Note: This property has steep stairways and very high balconies with large openings in the railings. Smaller children will need close supervision during their stay. There is direct, private access to the river, but the shore is not visible from the house.
